I was most excited for the food at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. Where else can you get anything you can think of deep fried! For my Aussie friends who don't know what a Funnel Cake is, it's essentially fried cake batter covered in icing sugar. It's what I hear most about state fairs, and to me, it tasted super bland. Not my favourite (2/10). I didn't try the Funnel Cake beer though, maybe that was better.
If you ever want to see a collection of food in the world you should never eat, go to a state fair. We ate deep fried oreos (0/10), deep fried carrot cake (7/10), and bbq'd turkey leg (8/10). There were bacon flavoured margaritas, topped with real bacon! Deep fried chicken skin, deep fried peanut butter and jelly, deep fried avocado?, and chocolate and coconut covered bacon. One year they even had deep fried salad, how do you deep fry a salad?
