If you've ever lived in Seattle, you'll often have people ask "do you mean Vancouver, WA or Vancouver, BC"? Before living in Seattle I had no idea there was a Vancouver in Washington; in case you don't either, it's right on the southern border of Washington, close to Portland. Anyway, I'm talking about Vancouver Canada. I've been able to visit Vancouver a few times in the last year, and these pics were from my most recent trip.
Did I discover where the wizarding world of Harry Potter purchases their brooms? Quite possibly, though this is the Canadian branch. One of the attractions in Vancouver is Granville Island. Granville island is a small island in Vancouver; with a delicious bakery (I'm talking pistachio chocolate croissant), an open market, quirky shops, and if you're into theatre plenty of independent live theatre to see. You'll find a broom store called Granville Island Broom Company, where the owner handcrafts brooms, and the smell in there is just gorgeous. I never knew broom making was a trade, and here you have the opportunity to sit and watch the owner hand craft the brooms. There is also a cement factory, which is where the painted cement silos come from. The factory is known for it's fun designs, where they also paint their cement trucks.
