My brother is the comedian in the family. He's the one who always makes people laugh, and the actor of the family for sure. This weekend he took those traits and entered RAW Comedy festival, which is the local amateur comedy competition in Australia. If you get into the final, you compete one night at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, four weeks of comedy in the city. If you win the overall title of RAW Comedy then you're sent to Edinburgh Comedy Festival. It's kind of an exciting thing to win!
While we were waiting for the comedy competition to begin, we hurried along and found a colourful laneway to take pictures in. It really is one of the best things about Melbourne, so many great walls to stand in from of! If you read my last post "Free things to do in Melbourne", I talk about the history of the laneways and graffiti.
When it comes to this outfit, I felt very bohemian, a little different to how I usually dress. I was trying to dress down this lace skirt, as you really could dress it up! The striped cropped top was a thrifting find from last week. I can't express how excited I am with it! I've been looking for the perfect striped top for so long, and I had bought the skirt a few months ago but this was my first time wearing it. I picked up the necklace from Goodwill in Seattle when I was living there, and the blue boots were also a Seattle purchase.
This blue bucket bag was a gift from my brother for my birthday, and I wore that as some kind of good luck charm. I'd actually been eyeing off this bag from Princess Highway for a few weeks, and my bro just picked it up randomly. What great taste he has! And it must have worked, because he made it through the first round, and is on to the preliminary finals! Very exciting for us all :)
