April is the month of Autumn, and it also happens to be felt hat month for the thrifting challenge I posted about here. Unfortunately, I've yet to find a felt hat, or any hats, in my thrifting expeditions this month, but I do happen to already have a collection of hats! Instead, I am showcasing an old one which I love. I bought this in Seattle at a prim and proper hat shop downtown. It was a delightful store, both suited to men and women, and it also happens to be where I learnt about the hat ribbons and pins. Apparantly if you're a woman, you hat ribbon and any pins and feathers should come together on the left hand side, and if you're a man, it's the right hand side. I'd love to get some hat pins and feathers to jazz up my current hat collection!
As to my outfit, I'm a huge fan of cropped sweaters, and this is one of my favourites. I bought it at Princess Highway, a Melbourne store (on sale, but not thrifted). I find it difficult to find perfect cropped sweaters, however usually Princess Highway delivers. The dress I'm wearing underneath it also happens to be Princess Highway, but I thrifted this over the weekend for $9. The boots are an older pair I bought in Seattle, and they have been a constant during the colder months. I love the buckle and cream detail at the back, and they're the perfect heel for me. I struggle to wear completely flat shoes, it's so painful for me! A good inch or two is ideal. I can't recall where I picked up the necklace, and I wish I had a picture of it open, but it's a like a little dolls house inside, which carved out rooms and furniture!
It's a three day weekend in Australia, and I'm planning on hitting up the 200 years of Australian Fashion exhibition, as well as the Andy Warhol expo too. The final weekend for it! What are you up to this weekend?
