Christmas and New Year are just around the corner so what perfect time to break out anything that sparkles! If you've ever seen a pair of Miu Miu jewelled heels you'll understand how they're the perfect party shoe. They are also upwards of $1000...but, I have a solution. I made this pair for $13 (including the shoe dye to dye the shoes black), a saving of + $987!
What you'll need:
- A pair of heels (my own)
- Jewels or embellishments of choice $3 (from the scrapbooking section in Kmart)
- Superglue (in my craft drawer)
- Tweezers if you have them
I used an old pair of heels which I painted black with shoe dye. Shoe dye is very easy to apply, and works really well on real leather. I'd recommend also using a leather stripper before painting the leather (here is another of my shoe dye projects). I wouldn't recommend on non-leather shoes, as the color won't go on or stay on as well. I purchased the shoe dye from my local cobbler for $10 (brand is Waproo) but you could also get it online. Painting the shoes took about 10 mins, and I let the shoes dry overnight.
The next step is to arrange your jewels in the pattern that you want. I mixed mine up with pink and purple jewels for a little more color, but you could keep the same color all over too. Once you have a pattern you're happy with, use the super glue to attach the jewels. If you have craft tweezers I'd recommend them as the super glue can get all over your hands. I'm currently writing this with superglued fingers, as I couldn't find my tweezers! An easy and simple project to get you in the mood for the party season. Happy crafting :)
